A month after being delivered to its owner, a superyacht caught fire on an idyllic Mediterranean island.

On Thursday afternoon, the 150-foot Aria SF ship caught fire near Cala Saona on the west coast of Formentera.

Following a mayday call, the Spanish coastguard dispatched two rescue boats to the area. The video is containing all the facts.

Nine people on board—nine passengers and seven staff members—left the vessel after an unsuccessful attempt to put out the fire.

Obviously everyone is eager to know about the injury and damage. No injuries were mentioned in the reports.

The neighbouring island of Ibiza could be seen in the distance because of the fire's dark smoke after the incident.

Paulo Scudieri has been identified as the owner of the superyacht, which was only sold in 2019 and only recently left the shipyard.

The 61-year-old is the chairman of Gruppo Addler, a manufacturer of interior auto parts, which his father Achille established in 1956. His estimated nett worth is £410 million.

Although specialised yachting websites said the boat is not now available for rental, it was unclear right away if he was on board.

The superyacht was scheduled to make its formal premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival later this year. It had a swimming pool, five bedrooms, and a gym.
