A man whose biological parents abandoned him 36 hours after his birth because he had Treacher Collins syndrome recently talked about his struggle with acceptance.

At the age of five, Jean legally adopted Jonathan Lancaster. His birth parents "couldn't cope," she informed him.

Jean revealed to him as he grew older that they "simply battled to accept" the fact that he was "different".

"They had informed the hospital's social workers and other staff members that they did not want other family members to meet me. "

"I didn't have the emotional stability to read my adoption paperwork until I was 25 years old "Jonathan spoke with Insider.

He stated: "Treacher Collins is referred to be "sporadic" in my case. It is claimed to have different effects on 1 in 50,000 persons.

My ears are little and folded over in this situation. I adore how similar they are to Bart Simpson's. My eyes slant downward, and I lack cheekbones."

When Jonathan was two weeks old, Jean brought him home. She asked the doctors to see him after the hospital advised her to dress accordingly .

"She's always said that she couldn't help but smile when she first saw me. She did an excellent job of keeping me safe "explained Jonathan.

When Jonathan was younger, he looked forward to coming to school and even fit in. But when he entered high school, everything changed.
