Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) is a new district that the man from Chhattisgarh did not shave for 21 years.

With the Chhattisgarh government establishing MCB as the 32nd district of the state on Friday, his resolve was realised.

After Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur was declared a new district in August of last year, Gupta shaved his beard for the first time in 21 years.

But on Friday, his resolve was finally realised, motivating him to sport a clean-shaven appearance.

"I decided that I wouldn't shave till Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur wasn't made into a district.

I wouldn't have shaved my beard either if the Manendragarh, Chirmiri, and Bharatpur region had never been made into a district. It took 40 years of labour.

All of the actual advocates for the district's recognition have passed away. Now that their souls are at peace, "said Gupta.

He continued, "I think Manendragarh would become a model district not just in Chhattisgarh but also throughout the country. I appreciate Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for this.

Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, the state's 32nd district, was officially opened on Friday by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Manendragarh will serve as the district headquarters, while the 100-bed hospital in Chirmiri will be expanded to serve as the district hospital.
