The Preliminary Assessment will be a 150-point computer-based test (CBT) of objective type (multiple-choice questions). The CBT will be divided into three sections: (1) General Awareness (to assess a candidate’s general knowledge, including current events), Quantitative Aptitude (to assess a candidate’s basic math skills, including algebra, numbers, geometry, statistics, and data interpretation at the tenth grade level), Verbal Comprehension and Logical Reasoning (to assess a candidate’s comprehension and communication skills, analytical ability, decision-making and problem-solving skills, and general mental ability).

This exam will only be used as a screening tool and will not be used in the final selection of Fellows. Negative points will be deducted for wrong answers (-0.33 points for every incorrect answer). Cochin, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Vishakapatnam will be among the exam centres in Tamil Nadu. The number of test centres available is subject to vary. A written examination is known as a Comprehensive Examination.

A personal interview will be undertaken to assess the candidate’s intellectual and emotional quotients, current-events knowledge, and ability to think in systems. This round of the screening process will include a test of working knowledge of Tamil. The personal interview will take place exclusively in Chennai. The combined score from the candidate’s Comprehensive Examination and Personal Interview will be used to create the final merit list.
